Made of B-50 Dacron to use on any bow. Built using a single end loop with an adjustable timber hitch knot on the other end. In a pinch it doubles as a tillering string for bow building. Extra length has been added to the center serving to accommodate different bows. The Timber Hitch is for bows of finished length of 68"-72". Perfect for selfbows, English longbows, primitive bows, medieval bows, and other extra-long bows. ...read more

Good string
i put this string on my reflex deflex yew longbow. i prefer the single loop string over a double loop. easier to get the length correct and more period correct looking. i also liked that the colors were natural. i would use a linen string if i could find one. other than going over seas for single loop strings, 3Rivers was the only place i found one. i will be considering more strings… read more for some of my other bows in the future.
Nice String for a Longbow
Nice string if you're looking for a more traditional string. Color of the string is great, wish there was an option for no serving or one that is sinew colored
Bow string met my needs perfectly.
well made-easy to use
Not very well made
This thing gave me way too much trouble. It kept unraveling even though it was well-waxed and it stretched like no body's business. And while I was using it to tiller a red oak bow (45#) the Flemish loop completely unraveled causing the bow to come up and hit me right square in the chin.
Great bowstring
Great bowstring for my 72" longbow with a 42' draw @ 28. It stretches well, comes with knots all tied, and has a nice coat of wax.
Works for my 71 inch longbow
Works well for tillering, but also for bowstring. Serving is good for wide range of lengths.
Tiller and shoot
I tillered my bow with this string and then adjusted it shorter to shoot. Though not a perfect string to shoot with as the center serving may be off for your average size bow it does the job and lets you tiller a bow and test it out.
Just what I was looking for
I was usually disappointed in my brace height with a double loop string so I purchased the timber hitch and solved it.
SUPERB!
Allows you to make brace hight & nocking point adjustments to find the sweet spot where your bow will shoot the best.
Worked for me!
I bought this as I'm trying to build my first useable osage bow. It worked great for the long string portion of the tillering process.
I personally use our Timber Hitch string and the upper loop is very large and I have had no problems with it fitting any of the tips on my bows. If you have trouble with fitting this string on some of your bows you may consider reducing the size of your tips for speed.
You will want a 68'' string for that bow to get that brace height and we have them in stock.
We would not have an option for one that long unfortunately.
We would not have a string in that length unfortunately. We do sell the material to build one though.

You could but it is not recommend for bows that are that short. If you do want to use this string you would need to redo the center serving to match the length of that bow. I would recommend the B-50 string at 55 inches long. That item number is 1515X
HiProbably not, because it's for a longbow and the thicker bound area where you nock your arrow would not be in the center of your bow.You generally need a string 3" shorter then you string groove length Kindest regardsNick McGaugheyMcGaughey Studio LLC
I would work but you would need to take the center serving off and re serve it.
Yes. It will certainly fit well enough. I ended up using this string to tiller bows-in-progress.
Greetings...... Oh Rob, if your bow really does use a 48 inch string. Than this string that you are looking at my be a bit to long for you. You see the Center serving my not align with your arrow nock....... Walter
Dear Archer, I'll be honest with you and let you know that it doesn't work for any bow shorter than 68". I built a 66" Bow and used it as a tillering string until I could put a proper(full brace) string on it. For a 48" string I would go with B-55 or an equivalent to keep it quiet and for reliable performance. This string is really much better used as building string for longer bows but is of great quality and even came with instructions to re-tie the "timber hitch" when it comes undone. Yes this would work great on an all wood bow.
This string will work and you will want to use a large string nock.
You can use this string for tillering. The only thing that worries me is your bow length I have used this string on a 69" longbow and I am right at the edge of the serving I think with 68" you met miss the serving. The string is a great product the serving I think is set for a 72" longbow. I would consider a tillering string and a 63" Flemish twist string. Just something to consider. Sent from my iPhone
Yes you can but I recommend using a regular string.
