It works exactly as expected. The part that goes on the shaft rolls over the arrow so it doesn't mess up the finish. I am fairly new to straightening wooden arrow shafts, but after a little bit of trial and error I was easily able to straighten 12 arrows.

This was the first time I had tried a wooden arrow straightener and after receiving it with my order I found an extremely bent arrow and went to work on it. With a little time and patience I was able to bring the arrow back to straightness.

Could you, assuming your work surface is very flat, use this to straighten an aluminum shaft? I'm sure you would need to be gentle and the bend not too pronounced. I mostly shoot wood, but I'm buying some xx75 camo hunters and already own the tool. Thanks

Wood shafts can bend after being straightened yes. If you straighten a shaft and then seal it, it will be a little bit more resistant to bending, but will still do some.

Does this Ace Roll-R work on shafts with very noticeable bends in the wood or is it just for slight bends?
The Roll-R-Straight will work on slight bends and larger ones.

The Roll-R-Straight will work on slight bends and larger ones. I will hand straighten most of the bends out of the shaft. I use this to get the tougher bends out.
