Yes this will cut aluminum shafts without collapsing them. You will want to make sure that you are not putting too much pressure when using it.
Yes. Just twist the knob very lightly and take your time. You can also insert a slightly snug fitting wooden dowel to support the tube. The size of dowel depends on the ID of the shaft.

Yes, very, very light pressure, with patience, and this works great on aluminum shafts. I do also use a debit ring tool afterwards just for a light touch up.
The tool will not collapse the shaft. You control the amount of pressure. You clamp it just lightly enough to start cutting and continue to tighten as the cut gets deeper and deeper. It's a good little tool and I recommend it.
