Disappointed!!!
This product is way over priced!!! Ok for someone just starting out but I would not waste your money on this cresting jig. My arrows are perfectly straight but, the arrows suddenly stop rolling and the wheel slips. Not to mention the marks left on my already painted and stained shafts left behind by the rubber wheel. Very disappointed in this cresting jig!!!
Great customer support!
I have used this crester for about 5 years, and it always worked perfectly until one day it just stopped in the middle of a cresting job. Since this was well out of warranty, 3 Rivers referred me to Bohning. Bohning was easy to reach on the phone, and treated me like I was the best customer they had ever had from the moment we were connected. From my description, they guessed… read more that the motor had burned out, and sent me a new one, free of charge! I'm now back in business without having to send the crester back to them or pay anything. What more could you ask for?
Does what it is supposed to do and does it well
I'm just a hobbyist but this crester works for what I need. I'm a big fan of not complicated, and this thing is flat out easy to get the hang of. I do shoot cedar arrows and my word of advice, if you have trouble straightening your arrows, this crester will have trouble spinning them. As long as you get you shafts straight, you shouldn't have any problems.
Don't buy it!
I watched the guy from 3 Rivers demonstrate the Bohning cresting machine. I now know why he did NOT do the demo with wood arrows. I tried 15 different shafts and could not get a single one to spin on this machine. I is possible that the one I received was defective, but I decided to not waste my time with another Bohning crester; I sent it back and ordered the Spin Rite cresting… read more machine. It looks like it's much better built that the Bohning. I really hope it works because I was very much looking forward to cresting all the arrows I build.
Great Cresting Jig
I really like the ability to control the speed at which this jig spins the arrow shaft. I found that it was easier to do pin stripes at slower speeds, and easier to cover larger areas at higher speeds. This jig is also duel voltage. I am stationed in Germany so it was nice to see that I can plug it into both 110v and 220v. It is an American plug so you will need an adaptor to… read more plug it in to a different countries wall socket. I will say that the arrow shafts need to be perfectly straight in order to get good lines. A few of my lines were not so great, but that was my fault because I don't have much experience straightening arrow shafts.
You can use many diameters without issue.
Mick, you shouldn't have a problem with different diameter shafts on this tool. I will say the tool is a little sensitive to keep a shaft running true. Hope this helps. Charlie Etheredge
Unfortunately we do no have any spare parts. you would have to contact Bohning directly.
Unfortunately we do not have any replacement parts for this crester.
Yes the bohning crester will work with the 5mm axis shafts.
Hello, I purchased the Bohning crester and didn't have good luck with it. I purchased the Spinrite Crester and am extremely happy with it. The Bohning crester is very poor quality and the rubber wheel does not grip the shafts properly. The Spinrite allows you to adjust the smaller rubber stabilizers for shafts that might be bowed so the shafts spin straight. The Spinrite will work for the Axis 5mm shafts and every other shaft you want to crest being wood or alluminum etc. I wouldn't waste your money on the cheap Bohning crester. Same price as the Spinrite. Hope this helped. Kind Regards, Erik Barnes
