Keeps the glue from sticking to the clamp. If you do get some on the tape, it scrapes off with your fingernail. One caveat, be very careful to get the clamp clean and degreased before applying the tape to the clamp, otherwise the tape will not stick properly.

I was a little hesitant at first wondering how much it would actually help, but thought I should give it a try. I am very pleased with how well it has worked. If you have ever had a feather stick to your clamp, this will solve the problem. It's very easy to use and will last a long time. I now use it on all of my clamps.

Not sure why you would use it as rest material, but I guess it would work. The tape is clear with the removable backing being blue.
