Easy to use very constant
I got this within a week and and the cutting is easy with a rotary cutter nice constant shapes
Disappointed
The shield cut template is not the same shield cut feathers that you sell on your website
Not bad
I have the 3 and 4 inch bananna cut, and just recieved the 3" shield rw today. The nanner templates are great. My shield cut look more like traditional cut. The wife hates the look the shield template gave the feathers. Sucks, because the shield template was for her arrows. Id return it, but i like the look for myself, rather unique. Now i have to figure out what to do for her… read more shields....again.
Works pretty well
I purchased a few different templates and they work fairly well for my use. I don't process a lot of feathers though. If you want higher production you should pick another method. Using a 60mm rotory cloth cutter and a hard surface underneath you can get pretty good cuts. Parabolics are a little more difficult because of the curve, but the shield is pretty easy.
Would buy again
Have used these to cut several feathers. They are easy and simple to use. You just place the template over the feather and cut the shape out.
Poor Quality & A Waste of Money
I am very experienced with cutting special feathers. We often need just one or two fletches for repairs, so I bought 4" shield and parabolic templates to test. The slot for the feather base did not hold the feathers well, and I used painter's tape to keep the fletches aligned. An 18 mm Olfa rotary cutter didn't work because the hub rubbed against the template and forced the wheel… read more out of vertical alignment. I bought a 45 mm Fiskars cutter which worked well on the shield template, but couldn't swivel around the parabolic and left a jagged curve. Cutting with a knife on the board, and with scissors holding the template by hand made really rough edges. Both templates made fletches 1/6" or 2 mm shorter than commercial feathers. I like the idea, but the templates are poorly designed. Instead, I will get some plexiglass from a glass shop and try making my own at the proper height.
The fantasy super fast are 1/4" high , and the standard Fantasy are 1/2" high . We do not offer custom ordering of templates but we do offer custom feather choppers .
Yes you could use these to shape a burner ribbon.
I don't have a feather burner but you may very well be able to use it for shaping your ribbon.
