Good tool, but.....
The 11/32" cutter did not fit any of my standard 11/32" shafts. It was just too small and the shafts had to be shaved a little to make it work - otherwise it would not turn and cut the threads. I was disappointed somewhat. Positive- if you got it fitted on the end of the shaft and the shaft trimmed back the length of the tool and it cut a nice thread, the fittings went on tight… read more and solid.
I would buy this product again, awsome
I used this tool to prepare wooden shafts for screw on tips.
Horrible product
After buying all the tools, following the meager directions provided only through this site, I managed to get this thing firmly stuck on a shaft. This is after getting out a drill and "shaping" using the shaper adapter five times to be sure. With no directions I can't tell what right is supposed to be though. I apply the thread cutting tool, which really needs a handle, and it is… read more now firmly stuck, and I splintered the shaft trying to untwist it. The only way I've made this work is by sanding the tip so that it fits. 11/32 shafts and that thing is exactly 11/32 with the metal meaning the shaft must be smaller in order for it to work. The shaping tool comes in three sizes, way too big, too big, and break your shaft small. What a great idea this is, too bad it is executed horribly. I have no idea how these other folks managed to get this work either, because it is definitely not intuitive.
Mixed feelings
This is needed to use any Top hat products, but it is very difficult to work with. I hope a version will come out with a handle on it.
Yes
I like to be able to change points when I want to
Tophat thread cutting tool
Seems to work well very tight fit
A must have!
It was a little difficult screwing the thread cutting tool onto the arrow without securing it in a vise or with pliers. I would highly recommend this tool because it made it much easier to put the adaptors on once the threads were cut into the arrow.
Excellent tool
worked well
Must have if you use the adapters
I followed the advice here and bought the tools. This is really great at starting the thread on the shaft. It could use a handle, but I used the assembly tool so it doesn't NEED a handle.
Great fix for adding broadheads
I needed a fix so I could add any broadhead to my wood arrows. This product does that perfectly.
We are not taking any more backorders for that size until we get them in stock. Top Hat is behind on their orders due to COVID
We will not be carrying that size any longer.
If all you use is 5/16 then that is the only size you would need to purchase in the tools.
Yes it will allow the tread cutting tool to cut consistence depth threads completely around the shaft. The wood shafts you may get could be egged shaped. I use the shaft taper tool on my shafts that I put a taper on also, the taper is much straighter and even and the points glue on much straighter.
It threads about an half inch.
Five eighths of an inch. Be prepared to figure out how to soft-clamp the shaft, too.
